About Three Oh's

Described as a horse that was "all heart", who ran with determination, this great brown stallion's most notable accomplishment came as a 2 year old in 1968 when he won the AQHA All American Futurity. This race has always been a prestigious win, but Three Oh's accomplished it the hard way, beating out other great horses such as Lady Bug's Moon, who finished second, then Top Bug, who was third, and Ralph's Lady Bug, dam of Bugs Alive In 75, who was fourth.

This win put Three Oh's at the top of the 1968 Leading Money Earning Horses list.

Where did Three Oh's get the speed? Foaled in 1966, he was sired by Three Chicks, an Open AQHA Champion with a Register of Merit in Racing. Three Chicks was royally bred himself, by the legendary Three Bars (TB) and out of the phenomenal mare, Chicado V, who in 1952 was named co-champion World Quarter Running Filly. Three Oh's dam, Oh My Oh, won her trial in the All American Futurity in 1959, but was disqualified and placed last. Oh My Oh's dam, Miss Myers, an own daughter of Leo, was the 1953 World Champion Quarter Running Horse and World Champion Mare.

Three Oh's sired 794 registered foals during his short lifetime. These were earners of $4.8 million from just seven crops to race. His brief life came to and end in 1976 at the age of 10. As of the year 2000, there were 21 money-winning barrel horses that listed Three Oh's as their maternal grandsire, and 53 who listed him as their paternal great grandsire. That same year, Packin Sixes was the leading sire of money-winning barrel horses, with 17 different horses winning over $335,000. And there, as the maternal grandsire of Packin Sixes, flows the blood of Three Oh's.
